How to configure the CDN Settings of WordPress LiteSpeed Cache Plugin

4 min read

Introduction #

LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress is a powerful optimization plugin. It is a collection of multiple features built-in one handly tool, which is easily integrable directly into your WordPress Admin Dashboard.

One of the great advantages of the plugin is that it could be configured to work with almost any Content Delivery Network (CDN). In this tutorial, we overview the CDN settings of LiteSpeed Cache and guide you on how to properly set them up.

Getting Started #

To begin, you have to log into your WordPress Admin Dashboard. To do that, please add “/wp-admin” to your domain name – for example, “mywordpress.com/wp-admin” where “mywordpress.com” is your actual domain.

Once you are in, please hover over the “LiteSpeed Cache” option on the module bar on the left. When the submenu is expanded, please click on the “CDN” option.

Access WordPress LiteSpeed CDN Settings

Upon doing that, you will be redirected to the CDN configuration section.

Configuring CDN Settings #

The CDN tab will allow you to configure the LiteSpeed Cache plugin to work together with the CDN you intend to use. Please note that at this point, you are expected to have your CDN account already set up.

CDN Settings #

  • QUIC.cloud CDN – Quic.cloud is a CDN specifically designed to work with WordPress. The people behind it have worked closely with LiteSpeed to provide almost all caching benefits of a standard LiteSpeed webserver to Quic.cloud users. In addition to all the caching services benefits, they include additional services such as image optimization similar to ShortPixel, and we highly recommend that you register for their services and to give it a try.  If you have registered for their service, then this option should be set to “ON”, otherwise, keep it disable.
  • Use CDN Mapping – The default option here is disabled, and you should keep it as such if you are using Cloudflare or Quic.cloud. If you are using a different CDN provider, you will be able to map it via CDN URLs, depending on the type of content it serves (images, videos, CSS files, HTML files, etc.). In addition to that, you will have a content box that will let you add additional file formats.
  • HTML Attribute To Replace – We recommend keeping the default settings as they are, and only include more if needed.
  • Original URLs – This setting is useful when you are running a multi-lingual or a multi-site network on your WordPress. In that case, you can add them in the list, following the pattern “//siteurl.com/”. Each one should be on a separate line.
  • Included Directories – You can use this content box to add additional directories you want to benefit from the CDN. This is useful on very rare occasions when you have a custom file/folder setup for your site. Therefore, leave the default settings as they are.
  • Exclude Path – You may use this content box and define paths on your site, which you want to exclude from the CDN.
  • Load JQuery Remotely – We recommend keeping this setting to its default “OFF” value. However, you can test it out by choosing the other settings and see if this makes any difference in loading speed.
  • Cloudflare API – If you use Cloudflare, you can enter the necessary details to start using their API. This will make it, so the Cloudflare cache is purged, whenever the LSCache is purged.

Manage #

This tab allows you to manage some third-party CDN functionalities from your LSCache dashboard, without having to install additional plugins. At this point, the majority of the QUIC.cloud CDN management tools are only accessible from their dashboard. If you want to be able to use certain Cloudflare functionalities, you need to configure the API, explained in the previous paragraph.

  • Development Mode – Development mode allows you to bypass Cloudflare’s cache. This is useful when troubleshooting and when adding content or new functionalities to your website.
  • Cloudflare Cache – A convenient way to clear the Cloudflare cache, without hindering the LSCache.
